Project: Utility Services Contract (USC)
Value: £40m
Start: 2004
Completion: 2007 plus a 2-year optional extension

Scope:

Clancy Docwra Limited signed a contract worth approximately £40m for clean and wastewater utilities services with Southern Water in June 2004 – The Utility Services Contract (USC).

The clean water area consists of Hampshire, Kent, Sussex and the Isle of Wight, with the wastewater element of the contract covering the Isle of Wight. Types of works involved within the contract include: repairs and maintenance, service/main laying, reinstatement and 24/7 emergency response.

The award of the USC required Clancy Docwra to broaden the scope of its service provision within the water industry and to do this required a professional services company to compliment its abilities of delivery. After an extensive selection process, Atkins Consultants was selected to be strategic partner.

Atkins have complemented the culture of Clancy Docwra and it was clear early on that both companies shared a vision of the future within the water industry. For the USC, Atkins provide technical and management support in the delivery of a service oriented contract.

To date the team has been undertaking a programme of works involving more than thirty schemes, ranging in size from £30k to £7m.

The USC is the first contract where Clancy Docwra Limited and Atkins Consultants have worked together. The industry is developing far more into ‘service provision, holistic management of utility’s assets. Clancy Docwra and Atkins will be combining their skills to develop this service for our established and future clients, giving them far greater options for cost effective delivery of their obligations.
