South East Water: Cryptosporidium Plant
Project: West Ham Cryptosporidium Plant
Client: South East Water
Value: £1.2m
Start: Nov 2004
Completion: July 2005
Scope:
Clancy Docwra Limited was awarded the Design and Construction of a £1.2m Micro-filtration Plant by South East Water in November 2004. Clancy Docwra has had a successful close-working relationship with South East Water both on Opex and Capex works for many years.
Works included the provision of the micro-filtration plant that was housed in an existing pump house, this required an extension and included all services.
Existing infrastructure connections were installed to re-route existing flows through the plant via a 600mm raw water main and to integrate with existing process treatment pipes. The raw water main had a capacity of 35mega litres per day.
Once flows had been routed through the micro-filtration plant they were filtered through a Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) unit.
Clancy Docwra instigated a Value Engineering process with the client at design stage and offered several alternatives to the client that have delivered leaner efficiencies to the process.
