Scope:
United Utilities entered into a contract with Clancy Docwra Limited in the construction of an £11.6m project to improve supplies of drinking water to the area of Penrith in Cumbria.
As part of United Utilities £3 billion Capital Investment Programme and in accordance with the Drinking Water Inspectorate’s compliance timescale, the project is administered by Montgomery Watson Harza Programme Management Limited.
Works included the installation of a 40km pipeline, diameters include: 450 and 350mm ductile iron; 560,500 and 400mm Polyethelene. The building and equiping mechanically and electrically of two potable water pumping stations at Watchgate and Boredale in Cumbria. Connections to Haweswater aqueducts.
Also included 12.8km of 180mm sliplining. 1.8km of open-cut and the testing and commissioning of the works to include an additional 23km of swabbing and chlorination of new and existing mains.
