Scope:

This contract was run by Network Rail and sponsored by the Scottish executive.

Kirkaldy was one of a number of stations having its disabled facilities upgraded.

The work consists of excavating the platforms and installing two lift shafts also a pedestrian ramp for access to the subway and also platform number 1.

In the execution of these works there is a requirement for sheet piling, re-enforced concrete works, block work and re-instatement of platforms, steel handrails as well as sheeting to roof and walls.

Works Also Include:

  • Installation of diverse drainage system
  • Underpinning of platform wall on platform1
  • Installation of electrical duct work from power room to proposed lift shaft
  • Excavate lift shaft base and install formwork for lift
  • Pour mass concrete for lift shaft
  • Construct block work for plant room
  • Install roof steel work and sheet with box profile sheets
  • Install ramps to platform 1
  • Finish external cladding in Fyfe stone or equivalent

The same type of construction was carried out on platform 2.
