Metronet Rail: Buckhurst Hill Station
Client: Metronet Rail
Project: Buckhurst Hill Station- Ground Stabilisation Works
Value: £479k
Start: 2008
Completion: 2009
Scope:
Routine maintenance inspections by Metronet Rail had revealed structural defects to retaining walls to the subway approach areas on both sides of the tracks at Buckhurst Hill Station on the Central Line of the LUL system.
Following a period of site monitoring by the client, the cause was determined to be ground rotation resulting in the displacement of the subway walls. This had the potential of a catastrophic collapse, placing both the railway and members of the public at risk. Metronet Rail designed a retention scheme which was put out to competitive tender and awarded to Clancy Docwra Rail.
