Company Timeline
1958 Founder Michael Clancy forms M.J. Clancy & Sons Limited in Wembley, undertaking groundworks, drainage and roadworks in and around London.
1962 The housebuilding arm of the business, Clancy Developments Limited is created.
1968 Clancy Plant Hire Limited is incorporated to service the requirements of M.J. Clancy & Sons Limited contracting companies.
1974 M.J. Clancy & Sons acquires water and gas public works contractor R.E. Docwra Limited.
1983 The company’s Head Office and yard is built in Harefield, Middlesex on ground next to the Grand Union Canal.
1988 The Clancy Group purchases the first Microtunnelling machine in the UK.
1996 Rees Construction Services is bought by the company, adding No Dig technologies to the existing services. It is renamed as Rees Pipeline Services.
1997 To establish a presence in Corfe Mullen in the South of the UK, the Group purchases Westwick Construction.
2000 An office catering for the growing Rail business is established in West Ealing, London. Offices in Darlington and Alloa are set up to support contracts with Northumbrian Water and East of Scotland Water. The first Clancy Group website is launched this year.
2001 M.J. Clancy & Sons, R.E. Docwra, Rees Pipeline Services and Westwick Construction are amalgamated to form the single operating company - Clancy Docwra Limited. At the same time, the Special Services division is launched offering various services including pipe bursting, directional drilling and joint sealing.
2002 The Business Management System is launched providing employees with a clear direction as to how the company conducts its activities. Also this year, Clancy Docwra, Utilise and Morrison Utility Services open a purpose-built training centre in Dartford allowing trainees to work on live gas, water and electricity supplies.
2003 The company is awarded Investors in People status and ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditations.
2004 Clancy Docwra launches the Modern Utilities Apprenticeship scheme. The Training Centre at Head Office opens.
2005 Clancy Plant Hire forms the new division Clancy Plant Fusion, providing butt and electro fusion capabilities to the business as well as Cat and Genny recalibration. The company also achieves OHSAS 18001 accreditation.
2006 New company uniforms are developed and launched.
2007 Triple M Communication system launched within business
2008 The Clancy Group celebrates its 50th Anniversary year.
2009 Seamus Keogh appointed Chief Operating Officer. Clancy Plant opens the Re-processing Division and introduces the first mobile recycling unit into the UK Construction Industry. Innovation, Client and Supplier Event held in at Head Quarters in Harefield - Believed to be the first of its type.
2010 Innovation Manager appointed and team established. Milestone reached on Victorian Water Mains Replacement Programme for Thames Water - 500km of distribution mains laid. Company is amongst the first to achieve certification within the Achilles Information Limited, Certified Emissions Measurement and Reduction Scheme (CEMARS)
