Clancy win £2.5M SER contract for London Underground

Rail

We are delighted to have been awarded a new £2.5M contract with London Underground. The work includes construction of the new Signal Equipment Rooms at Embankment, Plaistow, Dagenham East & Upminster.

London Underground Limited (LU) anticipates that the number of passengers using the Sub Surface Railway (SSR) will rise considerably over the next few years. In order to manage this anticipated increase in patronage, the capability of the infrastructure to support the train service needs to be enhanced. To achieve the service capability enhancements, LU has developed an upgrade strategy titled the Four Lines Modernisation (4LM) which requires the introduction of new rolling stock, new signalling, new train control facilities including associated infrastructure and depot works.

The objective of the works included in this framework is to provide appropriate Civils and Premises and M&E works (including fire, alarms and comms) associated in delivering the requirements of the Wayside Enabling sub-programme (SER / CID / Migration Enabling) in support of the Railway Systems Delivery ATC implementation.

Embankment work scope consists of the re-configuration of existing rooms within the station building to house the new SER & ESR, works will be undertaken both during engineering hours and traffic hours. All materials will be moved in and out of the station during engineering hours while the station is closed to the public along with any activities deemed too disruptive for traffic hours working. All works to be undertaken during traffic hours shall be in non-public areas and does not interfere with the day to day running of the station.

Plaistow, Dagenham East & Upminster are new build projects consisting of concrete foundations, brick and block walls with a concrete roof. All works to be undertaken during traffic hours as the work sites are in a non-track environment.

The programme runs from May 2016 to March 2017.
