Water Industry Apprenticeships

Clancy Docwra are a national contractor responsible for providing water to over 35 million UK customers each year. This apprenticeship will train you to lay and connect new services and repair and maintain faulty pipes. You will be working outside, with our operative teams, keep a vital network running.

Our level two Apprenticeship in the Water Industry is achieved through work-based learning in a fast paced commercial business. It is designed to train young people to install, maintain and repair a range of services in the water sector through a combination of practical work, whilst at the same time, obtaining nationally recognised, industry relevant qualifications at college.
Two week block release training at Bridgwater College in Somerset will also provide the opportunity for obtaining qualifications.
Main duties and responsibilities
- To support the team leader in carrying out all necessary designated works by the supervisor
- Ensure compliance with all Clancy Docwra controlled documents including Clancy procedures
We Offer You:
A kick start to your career with a 2 Year programme, where you will gain various qualifications through residential training. This will involve 3 x two week blocks in the first year at Bridgwater College in Somerset, including:
- CABWI L2 Diploma in Network Construction Operations (Water)
- CABWI L2 Diploma in Water Engineering (Network Construction Operations)
Working on site you’ll gain valuable “hands-on” experience of real life challenges in the Utilities sector, providing a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are looking to take their first step as employees in this industry. Hours can vary from day to day, depending on work load. Trainees are not asked to carry out tasks that they are not qualified to perform, or confident in taking on.

We are looking for a motivated, organised and proactive individual to join our scheme. It is preferred that you have GCSE’s in Maths and English grade D or above, although this isn’t compulsory. You will complete an initial assessment at the college to determine your current aptitude. Applicants should be an excellent communicator with an eye for detail whilst carrying out your role. If you successfully complete the apprenticeship and demonstrate a positive working attitude, you will have the opportunity to become a full-time member of the workforce, you could be working at different sites, driving is preferred, but not essential.

Pay and Conditions
Our apprenticeships are open to any candidate aged 16 and above.
We welcome applications from mature individuals, however all apprentices must have the unrestricted right to work in the UK.
You will be paid £5.50 per hour for the first year of your apprenticeship. This will be reviewed in your second year and will increase, subject to satisfactory performance and the successful completion of your first year qualifications.
Hours of work
Maximum 40 hours per week Monday to Friday for apprentices aged 16-18.
Additional hours are for site-based older apprentices, subject to mutual agreement. This industry needs you to be willing to work outside in all weathers for operational roles, often starting very early.
Our programme is two years long.
Our apprenticeship programme reflects the diversity of our business and is a combination of knowledge based training though recognized providers and site based competencies, following national qualifications. Apprentices will be required to attend college on a block release basis.
