HS&W Principles
Our aim is to ensure that everyone goes home safe and healthy every single day. The Health & Safety element of The Clancy Group’s integrated management system is based around the essential principles identified in HSG65, Managing for Health and Safety, which promotes the Plan, Do, Check, Act model (PDCA). This is also aligned with the requirements of the Group’s certifications to ISO9001, ISO14001 and BSI OHSAS 18001, Quality, Environment and H&S respectively.
The PDCA model is represented in the diagram below (taken from HSG65):
- An effective HS&E Policy Statement
- Strong and active leadership from the top
- A fit for purpose HS&E risk assessment process and controls
- An appropriate organisational structure
- A competent and healthy workforce
- Workforce Involvement
- A continually improving HS&E certified management system
- Clear and measurable HS&E objectives and targets
- Accurate and timely reporting of HS&E performance
- A ‘learning’ incident investigation process
- A robust monitoring, audit and close out process
- An effective review process of our performance and compliance
Underpinning the twelve points above is a positive HS&E culture, where the whole workforce thinks and behaves in a safe and environmentally sensitive manner. The Roadmap to 6S is one of the means by which we are delivering the above 12 points. The linkages form our Mission, Values and Vision is represented in the diagram below:
