Clancy Wins Utility Week Award 2015

General

The iconic Grosvenor House, London was home to this years Utility Week Awards. The awards evening which took place on the 14th December 2015 brought together the utility industry for an evening of networking, entertainment and celebration.

Clancy Docwra were shortlisted in three categories and we are delighted to announce that we won in one for Excellence in Streetworks. The award is given in recognition of a utility company that is able to demonstrate innovative practices when working with supply and contracting organisations. Whether that is optimising the relationship, finding ways to draw on others experience, making step-changes in managing the supply chain or creating a partnership that is more than the sum of its members.

This was a joint award alongside our alliance partners, Anglian Water and Kier Group as well as Roadmender and was awarded in association with NJUG (National Joint Utilities Group). The awards were presented for the implementation of Roadmender mobile asphalt plant, which is a neat and effective mobile solution for reinstatements.

The Roadmender uses a propriety volumetric process, which allows us to produce polymer modified hot-mix asphalt in just the quantity you need, directly at the job site. While the finish mix is no different to premium hot-mix asphalt you can collect from an asphalt plant, the system delivers significant operating efficiencies, performance benefits and cost savings over traditional patching methods.

We currently own three Roadmenders and they are currently in use on Anglian Water and Southern Water contracts. Our Streetworks manager Dickie Aston-Wright has been managing the implementation and seeing it at work in the field. Dickie commented, “The technology is a true game-changer. It’s fast, efficient, cost-effective and environmentally friendly so it ticks a lot of important boxes for us”.

Clancy Docwra are delighted to have been given this prestigious award and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved and to our partners who have helped us along this journey.
