Senior management changes announced at the Clancy Group

Clancy Developments

We are pleased to announce a series of senior appointments as part of the wider restructure of our management team.

Jim Davey will join the board of utilities and infrastructure specialist Clancy Docwra as Operations Director. Having previously headed up the firm’s key Anglian Water alliance frameworks, Jim will work alongside existing Operations Director Matt Bailey to manage performance across the business’ major utility frameworks.

Ronan Clancy will become Associate Director for Anglian Water, working together with Jim who will remain responsible for the business’ alliance frameworks at board level. A member of the third generation of the Clancy family, Ronan joined the business in 2010 and moves from his existing role as Associate Director for Future Business.

At the same time, the Group has announced the appointment of two new Associate Directors and a Head of Performance Management. Lee Cuthbert joins as Associate Director working with Northern Power Grid, where the business delivers engineering services across the north east of England, while Roger Culley will become Associate Director overseeing Clancy Docwra’s multi-utility division. Stephanie Downs also joins the group as Head of Performance Management. Stephanie was previously Head of Supply Chain for Thames Water’s Infrastructure Alliance.

The new appointments are part of a wider management restructure to support the new role of Group Chief Executive Officer, Matt Cannon, which was announced at the end of 2018. Representing the third generation of the Clancy family to take the helm at the group founded by his Grandfather, Michael Clancy in 1958, Matt will move from his current post as Chief Operating Office to jointly head up Clancy Docwra, Clancy Developments and Clancy Plant. Matt, Jim and Ronan will assume their new responsibilities from 1 February 2019.

Commenting on the changes, Matt Cannon said:

“These appointments form part of our broader strategy to restructure and consolidate our leadership team across our business, ensuring we are well-positioned for future growth.

“Jim’s appointment will bring fresh thinking and operational expertise into our Board. At the same time, we’re bringing new blood on key contracts and divisions to ensure we maintain a strong pipeline of future leadership across the Group.”

Jim Davey added:

“Across our sectors, we are responding to a drive to modernise and expand our essential infrastructure. Our expertise across multiple infrastructure sectors means we are well placed to support our customers in delivering better performance – maximising investment through innovation, driving greater productivity and shaping more resilient networks.

“Having worked in the business for 16 years, I am looking forward to supporting the third generation of the family in this exciting new chapter.”

Ronan Clancy said:

“This is a critical period for the water industry as providers work to address the challenges of affordability, innovation, customer service and resilience set out by Ofwat under PR19. Anglian Water is already one of the leaders in this arena and I am looking forward to working with our alliance partners to support an ambitious programme of investment across the network.

“This is an exciting time for the business and the family and I am proud to be part of the team driving the Group forward.”

The Clancy Group Plc is one of the largest privately-owned civil engineering firms in the UK with a workforce of over 2,500 people and a forward order book of £1.2bn across the utilities, infrastructure, property development, plant hire and traffic management sectors.
