Dermot followed his brother in joining the company in 1970 after studying business at Slough College. At the age of 32, following the death of his father and founder of the company Michael J. Clancy he was appointed Joint Managing Director of The Clancy Group, a position he held until 2009 when he became Joint Chairman. During Dermot & Kevin’s tenure the business has grown from £8 million to over £280 million annual turnover. Dermot is responsible for the plant and building divisions of the business.
When not at work Dermot enjoys horse riding and playing golf. He lives in Penn, Buckinghamshire with his wife Vicky; they have five children. His second son, Ronan, also works for the company as Associate Director – Business Development.
