Tony O’Toole – CECA Lifetime Achievement Award

General

We are very proud to announce our very own Tony O’Toole has won the CECA (Southern) Lifetime Achievement / Outstanding Contribution 2018 Award.

Tony’s first encounter with M.J. Clancy & Sons Ltd was back in 1975, when he started out in construction working for sub-contractors Bill Carey and then Carlin & Donnlin who both delivered work to M.J. Clancy & Sons Ltd. It was in these early years that Tony’s energy and ability quickly caught the eye of our founder, Michael J Clancy, and he joined the company in 1977 as permanent employee number 84.

Tony has worked primarily in our Special Projects Division, acquiring extensive skills in a variety of environments – from complex, high profile projects in congested, city centre locations, to long-distance pipelines through open countryside as far afield as Cornwall, Cumbria and Scotland.

Although the work has been incredibly diverse (ranging from large utilities schemes, potable water works, rail embankment stabilisation works and power projects to tunnelling and microtunneling), there has been one common thread; delivering high quality work to the customer’s satisfaction. Tony’s ability to build strong and collaborative relationships with his clients has ensured a fair return for the company and its people. His initiative and effort have resulted in significant repeat business over the years and his contribution to the company’s success should not be underestimated.

Tony established a reputation as a ‘fixer of the impossible’, embracing every challenge with a desire for his team to succeed and deliver outstanding results! Amazingly, over the past 42 years, Tony has been involved in delivering successful contracts to our clients valued at over £80 million. We wish him well when he retires at Christmas. All the best Tony!
