Building brighter futures: Clancy volunteers support Mellon Educate in South Africa

General

We’re incredibly proud of our colleagues who recently travelled to South Africa to take part in the Mellon Educate Building Blitz, supporting a charity that has transformed education for thousands of children living in disadvantaged townships.

Founded in 2002, Mellon Educate has built or renovated 36 schools, improved education for over 65,000 children, and created meaningful employment through its community-based literacy tutor programme. Each year, volunteers from around the world come together for one powerful week to help build safe, modern classrooms where they are needed most.

This year, members of the Clancy team joined volunteers from Ireland, the UK, the US and beyond to contribute to this incredible effort, a humbling and deeply impactful experience for everyone involved.

As Kyle Ingram shared:

“It was honestly one of the most life-changing things I’ve ever experienced… knowing we’ve changed the future of thousands of lives makes everything worth it.”

And Roger Culley reflected on the lasting personal impact:

“The week will live with me forever… seeing the children’s joy and understanding why this work matters was incredibly powerful. I’m eternally grateful for the opportunity.”

Through the Clancy Foundation and the dedication of our volunteers, we’re proud to support Mellon Educate’s mission to improve literacy, expand access to education, and create opportunity for young people across Southern Africa.

Thank you to everyone who took part, your compassion, hard work and spirit of service reflect the very best of The Clancy Way.
